Performance Vision Care has a Wide Variety of
Eyeglass Frames
We carry a wide selection of frames that can match
your style and your budget. We have high quality entry
frames, high fashion designer name frames, and
everything in between. Our frames are plastic, metal,
titanium, rimless, and semi-rimless, and are available
in various sizes and colors. Our highly trained licensed
opticians can help you find the perfect eyeglass frames
by evaluating your lens requirements and listening to
your wants and needs.
In general, it is important to choose a style that
will flatter your face shape and balance your personal
proportion. The shape of the frame should contrast the
face shape for maximum cosmetic appeal. Frame size
should be to scale with face size which should allow the
top of the frame to follow the natural brow line and for
the eyes to appear centered in the frame.
If all of this sounds a bit intimidating, don't worry
because our opticians are trained to help you with this
process in a fun and informative manner. By the time we
are done, you will have the perfect pair of eyeglasses
to suit your style, prescription, and budget.
Performance Vision Care has all the Eyeglass
Lens Materials
Lens material selection is critical to our mission of
protecting ocular health and improving vision. Lens
material selection can be influenced by many factors
such as your prescription, age, occupation, lifestyle,
and the frame you selected. The following chart lists
the different materials and their characteristics.
- CR-39 Plastic Lenses - These lenses are
comfortable and lightweight and fine for people with
low prescriptions.
- Polycarbonate Lenses - These lenses are
inherently impact resistant, lightweight, and UV
protective. Children's eyeglasses and occupational
safety eyeglasses should always be made of
polycarbonate lenses. Rimless and semi-rimless
frames usually also require polycarbonate lenses.
- Trivex Lenses - These lenses possess all the
characteristics of polycarbonate lenses, but it
provides better optical clarity.
- High Index Plastic Lenses - These lenses are
very thin and lightweight and provide improved
optical clarity. High index lenses are recommended
for people with higher prescriptions.
- Glass Lenses - These lenses are not recommended
as much as they used to be due to their weight. Some
patients perform their best with these lenses so we
still have access to them.
Lens design selection is also critical to customizing
your eyewear for peak performance. This selection is
primarily influenced by your required prescription and
personal preference.
- Single Vision Lenses - These lenses correct your
vision at one distance - far away or up close.
Nearsighted people have single vision eyeglasses
lenses for distance. Farsighted people have single
vision eyeglass lenses for reading. Astigmatism
correction can also be incorporated into this type
of lens design.
- Multifocal Lenses - These lenses correct your
vision at multiple ranges. There are three types of
multifocal lenses - bifocals, trifocals, and
progressive lenses. Bifocal lenses have prescription
power that can correct your vision both at distance
and near.
When you look above the bifocal line you can see far
away and when you look below the line you can see up
close at a reading distance. Trifocal lenses have an
extra segment that gives you an intermediate range
(arm's length) of vision in addition to the distance
range and near range. Progressive lenses are also
referred to as "no-line bifocals" even though they
function more like a trifocal. Progressive lenses
most closely simulate your own natural vision
because there is a smooth transition between
distance, intermediate, and near ranges.
There are no lines that interfere with your vision
and they are much more cosmetically appealing.
Multifocal lenses, in general, work well for people
over the age of 40 or children who require extra
focusing power. The opticians at Performance Vision
Care will help you select the lens material and lens
design that is right for you.
Performance Vision Care has
Technologically-Advanced Lens Treatments
Recent scientific developments have improved lens
treatments to provide enhanced optical clarity, comfort,
and performance. The following list contains our most
frequently requested lens treatments and to whom they
are most commonly recommended.
- Anti-Reflective Coating - Anti-reflective lenses
eliminate unwanted surface reflections. This allows
more light to enter the eye and can improve vision
especially at night. Reduced reflections also
decrease glare from oncoming headlights and computer
screens. Anti-reflective lenses are also more
cosmetically appealing because they appear
transparent and bring more attention to your eyes.
We recommend anti-reflective coating to everyone,
but it is especially useful for computer users,
people who drive at night, seniors, and high index
plastic lens wearers.
- Photochromic Lenses - Photochromic lenses
conveniently change from being clear when you are
inside to a darker color when you are outside.
Photochromic lenses provide effective UV protection
and increase visual comfort. Photochromic lenses are
great for children and outdoor enthusiasts.
- Polarized Lenses - Polarized lenses are used
primarily in sunglasses. Polarized lenses provide UV
protection, eliminate all types of glare and enhance
contrast. Sunglasses with polarized lenses are
recommended to all of our patients to protect ocular
health. UV protection helps prevent cataracts,
macular degeneration, and ocular malignancies. We
carry a nice selection of sunglasses with polarized
lenses including Wiley X, Maui Jim, Ray Ban, and
Oakley.
- Scratch-Resistant Lenses - No lenses are scratch
proof, but we always offer lenses with superior
scratch resistance.
For great looks, maximum comfort, and optimum vision,
allow the eyecare professionals at Performance Vision
Care to design your customized eyewear frames, lenses,
and lens treatments.
